Regina now a buyer’s market for resale homes

March 28, 2013

Despite seeing a seven per cent year-over-year increase in house prices in the last three months, Regina is considered a buyers market, according to the Conference Board of Canada’s latest metro resale ‘snapshot’ released Thursday. Only four markets in Quebec and two in British Columbia were in a “buyer’s” state. Regina and Saint John, N.B., were the other buyer’s markets last month. March 12, 2013

A TD Economics report predicting flat housing prices for the next decade isn't necessarily bad news for homeowners or buyers, says Gord Archibald, executive officer of the Association of Regina Realtors. The report released Monday says the annual rate of return for real estate will be roughly two per cent over the next decade. "In other words, home price gains should simply match the rate of inflation,'' the report said. "This represents a weaker real return than what has been recorded since 1980."...

Energy Efficiency in Homes - a Regina Success Story

February 19, 2013

No one is going to be surprised to read that a newly built home is more energy efficient than an older home. When I make that claim, what may come to mind is the image of a wood home, built 80 to 100 years ago, with its drafty windows and often wood chip insulation. It is most likely not a big stretch for you to agree that there is no comparison between that old home and a new home, when it comes to energy efficiency. It does make me wonder how surprised you might be at how much more...
